KEMP Community Liaison Group

I received the following email a week or so ago from Tideway about KEMP plans.

Tideway are upgrading London’s sewerage system to cope with the demands of the city. The new 25 kilometre tunnel, running up to 65 metres below the river will start in west London and follow the route of the river to Abbey Mills Pumping Station in Stratford, where it will be connected to the Lee Tunnel. One of the site locations along the tunnel route is at King Edward Memorial Park Foreshore. Further information can be found on our website:

Towards the end of this year we will be starting to set up on site and in January 2017 we will start construction work.  In preparation for this, we have started to liaise with local residents and are looking to set up a Community Liaison Working Group, where community representatives can attend, voice their concerns and speak to members of the team about upcoming work.

We are holding an informal drop-in session on 14th July, 5pm-8pm at The Shadwell Centre, where residents can pop in and ask members of the team any questions they may have.

I had only a day’s notice of their drop-in session so I wasn’t able to attend. I asked how many people turned up as I’d not seen it advertised anywhere. They replied:

Approximately 12 people attended the drop in session with all expressing an interest in coming along to the formal Community Liaison Working Groups, or to receiving information on the works at King Edward Memorial Park.

When we have a confirmed date for the next community meeting we will update you.

So to any residents interested in the next liaison group meeting – I shall post on my site as soon as I receive info!
