Safety & Wellbeing

  • After the worrying attacks in Wapping Woods in 2012, Cllr Emma Jones was part of the effort to get shrubbery cut back and improve lighting in the area. We very much hope that local people, particularly women walking on their own, now feel safer when passing through this popular cut-through and jogging area.
  • The Conservative team at the Town Hall have been working closely with residents over the difficulties in Pennington Street. Following complaints from residents about crime and disorder there, Cllr Emma Jones contacted Tower Hamlets’ licensing department and an application for an extension of hours for one premises was refused.
  • Your Wapping Conservative action team secured Tower Hamlets Council funding for new perimeter fences at the rear of the Green Bank Estate. These should deter anti-social behaviour here.
  • When residents in Spirit Quay raised the problem of anti-social behaviour on the estate, Wapping Conservative councillor Cllr Emma Jones took the concerns up with the Safer Neighbourhood Team and is continuing to monitor the situation.
