We think our ward is one of the most beautiful and atmospheric in London with its historic, maritime legacy and stable village community. Yet we also think it is under-maintained and overlooked by Tower Hamlets and the borough’s Mayor. Your local Action Team keeps up the pressure on the Council by securing pots of funding for local works and reporting jobs that need doing.

A few achievements:

1 With the Council failing to keep our streets clean, local campaigners Julia Dockerill and Neil King are keeping up the pressure on dumped rubbish, and have got dumping sites like Inglefield Square cleared.

After years of patched and botched repairs, Cllr Emma Jones secured £75,000 to restore the cobbled road on Wapping Wall. Cllr Jones says “Wapping Wall gets a lot of wear. Tower Hamlets usually responded with inappropriate patching, but now the job is being done properly.”

At the last Council meeting Cllr Emma Jones raised the issue of spitting in public. The Council is not doing enough to tackle this issue, with other London Boroughs including Enfield taking more decisive action.
